Asking Congress for money =\= declaring a national emergency and making an end run on the democratic process to fund a project Congress refused to appropriate funds for. After controlling that body for 2 years.

Rose-marie Evans

Illegal border crossings have been on a decline for 15 years and are at an all time low. Trump admits this, he even admits there is no emergency. If it was an emergency, why did he not declare it 2 years ago, when he got into office and this 'emergency' was at a higher prevelance then it is now.

Daniela Garcia

Regardless of what you think of the border or the wall, and whether you are on the right or the left, you should take issue with him building the wall through declaring an emergency declaration. It has never been used before in a manner so blatantly political and a perversion of the law’s intent. And it’s never been used for a project that Congress had explicitly decline to fund. It’s truly an overreach of executive authority. Even if you support the wall, it’s one thing to get it built through legislation, but are you going to like the precedent that he is setting the next time that a Democrat is in the White House?

Jake Barnes

OP: "i have fake news!" OP: "and i guzzle horse jizz!"

Bradley Rollinson

Where did any of those say that there is a crisis at the border? And why did Trump wait until after his party lost control of congress to call it a crisis?

Crystal Miller

I think you miss the part where they keep funding for the border wall and they just don't agree to a concrete wall or any of Trump purpose models. But hey, you can always ignore fact defend you blurry point of view.

Andrew Webster

none of those people declared building a wall a national emergency tho...

Nicole D Friedley

Except no one claimed there was a crisis before, no one claimed there was a national emergency before, and no one wanted a giant border wall before. Also illegal immigration has dropped for a decade...

In a nationally televised address from the White House, the president warned about an "actual humanitarian crisis on the border" prompted by a surge of migrants from Central America, and urged Congress to take action on his immigration agenda. The year was 2014, and the president was Barack Obama. The left doesn’t care, and the SC will uphold his declaration.

Kristina Marie La Vallie

You DO know all these people governed in different time periods, right? Illegal immigration is at historic lows, net migration with Mexico is negative, and your population (immigrants included) is aging.

Jody Fick

Well, he did use a crisis less dangerous for the USA than obesity to gain political support from the right wing voters. And he did use some “white noise” to appeal to the xenophobic part of the Republican.

Gaurav Aghi

no you idiot, problem is that this shit will solve nothing. It's just a monument for trump

Nancy Reis

Looking at rhe statistics, whatever these presidents dit, it worked quite well

Ayesha Ashraf

There are a ton of crisis. There are few that presidents declare a national emergency for. "I didn't need to do this, I'd rather do it much faster" is not how you declare a national emergency to circumvent congress

Marsha Robinson

No but he came up with a retarded idea to solve it gonna build a wall across what is essentially a continent might only way that works is if every bit is manned 24/7 every couple hundred metres it's a dumbass idea

Linda Brown

The dnc, knows, that problems/crisis create more dependent voters, which will always vote dnc for free governmental cheese,,,,, they will fight to the death, to protect crisis to make money and to create more voters.

Tiffany Marie

Thats exactly the hight of the border.
