Xà lách xoong nhặt khúc ngắn, bỏ lá vàng, sâu. Rửa xà lách xoong với nước muối pha loãng rồi rửa lại bằng nước sạch.
Thịt heo bằm mua về cho vào tô, nêm 1 muỗng cà phê hạt nêm, 1/2 muỗng cà phê tiêu, ớt trái cắt lát, hành lá cắt nhỏ (để lại một ít đầu trắng hành để phi). Trộn tất cả nguyên liệu quyện đều vào thịt.
